From 22nd November until 22nd December, Delapré Abbey will be dressed for Christmas with a month-long programme of traditional festivities for all to enjoy.
Beautifully decorated for the season, visitors to the house will be welcomed with mulled wine and mince pies. Nine hundred years of history awaits as decorated Christmas trees illuminate the Victorian Bouverie rooms, the smell of spices fills the medieval zone, and a roaring fire brightens the Tudor kitchen. The house is open every Friday to Sunday from 11am to 4pm and best of all kids can enjoy it all for free.
A packed events programme will enable all ages to further experience the magic of Christmas.
Visitors can travel back in time and discover the real-life scandalous stories of servants and those living on the estate on a festive Downton at Delapré tour experience. The tours take place on Mondays at 12noon and 3pm, or alternatively join in a special night-time experience with mulled wine and mince pies on 28th November, 5th, 12th and 19th December at 6pm.
With help from his elves, Santa will welcome children and families into his grotto to work out who’s been naughty or nice on 30th November, and 1st, 7th, 8th 14th and 15th December. Little ones can also enjoy a concert and meet and greet with ‘Frozen’ queen Elsa on 1st December. Pre-book tickets to avoid disappointment.
Shop a selection of festive themed suppliers at the Winter Market on 30th November from 10am until 3pm. On 14th and 15th December, the Abbey will host its annual Christmas Fair. With food, children’s activities, and the historic house dressed for Christmas, you can truly soak up the atmosphere as you pick up those last-minute gifts from an array of carefully selected stalls. In the spirit of the season the community will come together on 13th December from 4-6pm for an afternoon of Christmas favourites sung by Delapre Primary School choir. The event is free so just drop-in on the day and remember to wrap up warm!

Visitors can explore the house for a whole year with a £20 annual pass (excludes events). Day tickets cost £8.80 with Gift Aid. Entry is free for under 18s.
