It’s been an extraordinary and challenging year. As we approach 2021 and reflect on the past 12 months, we’d like to take the opportunity to say thank you for your ongoing support which has, in turn, enabled us to support our community.
Way back in January we couldn’t have predicted what this year would bring. However, fast forward to December and we can take pride in what we’ve achieved this year with your help plus support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the government’s Culture Recovery Fund. We’re delighted to have been able to safely welcome you back, with thousands of you choosing to attend one of our events, spending your wedding day with us, dining in The Orangery, Hibiscus or our new deli Common Ground, volunteering with us, taking part in activities with one of our partners, supporting us through purchasing an Annual Pass, and exploring the Abbey and its history.
This year has highlighted the value of our green spaces and we’re incredibly lucky to be able to relax in and enjoy 500 acres of beautiful parkland with you all.
During this difficult year we’ve created volunteering opportunities, shone a spotlight on small and medium sized businesses though our events programme, and supported other local charities and community resilience groups such as Northampton Hope Centre, Food Aid Far Cotton, and the Far Cotton and Delapre Community Support Group.
Through our partnership with Warts and All Theatre and generous funding from Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s #IWill fund and The Compton Fund, we’ve offered the town’s young people a place to thrive at Delapré Abbey, regardless of background.
Here’s to 2021 and the opportunities that it will bring. We cannot wait to share our exciting plans with you soon.
Thank you all.
