Update on COVID-19: Temporary closure of Delapré Abbey

The safety and wellbeing of our visitors, volunteers, and staff is a key priority to us. In line with UK government measures outlined to tackle the spread of coronavirus, Delapré Abbey is temporarily closed until further notice.

Whilst the Abbey, the Orangery café, and Hibiscus may be closed, our work continues and we remain available via our digital channels.

In a bid to limit numbers onsite at any one time, we will no longer be opening the overflow car park or the Walled Garden. The main car park will remain open for a limited number of people to access the park for their once daily exercise, and we ask that members of the public follow social distancing guidelines onsite.

Christine Key, Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust’s Interim Director states “These are unique and challenging circumstances that we all find ourselves in. It is with a heavy heart that after celebrating our two year anniversary last week, we shut the doors to the Abbey for the first time since its extensive restoration, albeit temporarily. However the Abbey has endured so much during its 900 year history and this will be another tale of survival to tell future generations. We look forward to welcoming you all back as soon as we can.

We will be in touch directly with ticket holders, clients, and suppliers for public and private events. Tickets for Delapré’s Chocolate Factory will remain valid for new dates which will be announced in due course. If you are unable to make the new date then you may choose to donate the cost of your ticket to Delapré Abbey or receive a refund. We will work in conjunction with TicketSource to issue and process refunds.

We appreciate your patience and support during this difficult time. Please check our website and social channels for regular updates. We look forward to welcoming all of you back as soon as we can.
